GCIOBA Cricket Club Gets MANSARD Sponsorship

Mansard Insurance Signs 1st Club Cricket Sponsorship Deal With Government College Ibadan Old Boys Cricket Club Ahead Of The 2013/2014 Season
Government College Ibadan Old Boys Cricket Club on Monday September 23rd,2013 achieved a remarkable feat in Nigeria's club cricket history by signing the first club sponsorship deal with one of the fastest growing insurance company in Nigeria Mansard. The company which is no stranger to sports especially the gentleman's game of Cricket having sponsored the shortest format of cricket the Twenty 20 competition between 2007 and 2012.

MD/CEO of Mansard Insurance Mr Tosin Runsewe said at the cheque presentation ceremony at the Head office of Mansard Insurance in Victoria Island, Lagos. “ We are bent on promoting youth development especially in the area of sports”. “We have sponsored the Twenty 20 series for 5 years and are happy to associate ourselves with one of the most successful cricket clubs in the cricket league GCIOBCC and are ready to support them fully”.

Present to receive the cheque from their new sponsors was Team Co-ordinator of Government College Ibadan Old Boys Cricket Club Mr. Debola Ogunshina, Team Manager and Former Vice-Captain of Nigeria Cricket National Team Tayo Atoloye not also forgetting current Club captain and a member of the Nigeria Cricket National Team Osita Onwuzulike.

On receiving the monetary incentive, Team Co-ordinator Mr. Debola Ogunshina said “We are happy to become the first club in the history of Nigerian cricket to secure a sponsorship deal. We will do our best to make our sponsors Mansard Insurance proud”. We hope other clubs will emulate us and get sponsors so we can improve the game of cricket and hopefully compete with football in terms of followership. In the same vein Captain Osita said “We are grateful for the sponsorship package while we promise that at the end of season it will translate to trophies with the new additions acquired”. Tayo Atoloye who also responded to questions from media men at the cheque presentation believes their biggest task in the 2013/2014 season is to first wrestle what belongs to them from Foundation Cricket Club and Ibeju Lekki Cricket Club who are proving to be a dominant force in Nigerian Cricket
