The Yellow-Greens continued their fine form at the KwibukaT20 Women’s Cricket Tournament in Kigali, Rwanda as they made it three wins in three matches by claiming a 7-wicket victory over Botswana.

Botswana won the toss and elected to bat first. A tactic that seemed to favor.

Racheal Samson and Rukayat Abdulrazaq took the new ball for Nigeria and bowled tidily in tandem for the first couple of overs and snaring the early wicket of Olebogeng Batisani before the Botswana Batters grew into the game

A partnership between Florence Samanyika and Shameelah Mosweu steadied the ship for Botswana with 29 runs scored by the sixth over but Samanyika was holed out to mid-wicket where Agatha Obulor took hold of a tough chance by diving to her right. The wicket came at a heavy personal cost to Nigeria as Agatha injured her shoulder in the process.

The Nigerians were always in control although the duo of Mosweu 24(21) and Tuelo Shadrack 26(29) kept the scoreboard ticking over and their efforts helped get their team to a respectable total of 88 for the loss of 5 wickets

Opening batter Omonye Asika hit 33* off 50 in a controlled knock and despite the loss of Esther Sandy, Favour Eseigbe, and in form Salome Sunday, the game never seemed to be getting away from Nigeria who would also have been encouraged by the form of their Captain, Blessing Etim ahead of the stiff tests that await them.

Favour Eseigbe walked away with the MoM award with a brilliant bowling performance of 4-1-8-2.

Nigeria, who had earlier defeated Brazil and Germany will face two-time winner Uganda at the IPRC cricket oval on Sunday while Botswana takes on Brazil at the Gahanga Oval.
